In a huge breaking news development, India have once again dropped their premier fast bowler Arshdeep Singh for their Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against arch-rivals Pakistan being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team have performed amazingly well and have looked as a dominating unit so far in the first round of this T20I tournament, winning all of their three matches and securing the top position in the Group A standings. There has been a lot of controversies in the aftermath of the previous India vs Pakistan league stage match especially after the Indian players decided not to shake hands with the opposition.
Why is Arshdeep Singh not playing India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match?
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that they once made changes into the India playing 11 for this important IND vs PAK match. Suryakumar mentioned that the pace duo of Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are not playing this game. Arshdeep's absence is very much surprising especially after he reached the milestone of 100 T20I wickets during the last match against Oman. While talking about Arshdeep Singh stats in T20I cricket, the pacer has managed to pick up as many as 100 wickets from 64 matches at a fine economy of 8.32.
Incidentally, both Arshdeep and Harshit picked up a wicket each in their last Asia Cup 2025 clash against Oman on Friday. However, Suryakumar Yadav revealed that they are going ahead with the same India playing XI for this encounter against Pakistan, that played the first two matches of the tournament. The pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy are back into the side for this important game.
"We'll bowl first. Looks a nice track and yesterday there was dew. Since first round we were thinking we're playing a knockout tournament, nothing changes. That was a completely different wicket (in Abu Dhabi). Quite normal, just another game. Bumrah and Varun come back for Arshdeep and Harshit," stated Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav during the toss.
