Amit Mishra retires from all forms of cricket
Veteran Indian leg spinner Amit Mishra has called time on his cricketing career. He wrote a heartfelt message on ‘X’ to announce his retirement from all forms of the game. Mishra expressed his gratitude towards the BCCI, coaches, and his colleagues for being a part of his successful journey as an Indian cricketer.
“Today, after 25 years, I announce my retirement from cricket — a game that has been my first love, my teacher, and my greatest source of joy. This journey has been filled with countless emotions — moments of pride, hardship, learning, and love. I am deeply grateful to the BCCI, Haryana Cricket Association, my coaches, support staff, colleagues, and most importantly, the fans, whose faith and support gave me strength at every step.” Mishra wrote on ‘X’.

The Indian leggie represented India in 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, 10 T20Is, picking 76, 64, and 16 wickets, respectively. Amit Mishra showcased his bowling prowess in the Indian Premier League from 2008 to 2024. He is currently the eighth highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 174 wickets in 162 appearances at an impressive economy of 7.37.

Amit Mishra represented the Haryana state team in domestic cricket. He was a prolific wicket-taker in first-class cricket, claiming 535 wickets in 152 matches. His last international appearance came in a Test match against England in December 2016. He played his last one-day international game against New Zealand in October 2016.
“As I close this chapter, my heart is full of gratitude and love. Cricket has given me everything, and now, I look forward to giving back to the game that made me who I am.” The Indian spinner signed off.
